The O.W.O.T.C. strives to provide water operators with a wide variety of options with respect to curriculum and the frequency of course availability. In light of the impact of both winter and summer holidays our annual calendar is divided into 2 prime semesters. Courses offered outside of these parameters are offered strictly on an as-requested basis.
February: Annual Vendor Demo Days Event
Spring Semester: March 01 to June 30
July: Annual Customer Appreciation BBQ
Fall Semester: September 01 to December 15
While all courses are generally offered 2 to 3 times per semester, additional dates can be added depending on the volume of interest or to accommodate specific customer requests. It has always been the practice of the O.W.O.T.C. to minimize the frequency of any course cancellations, however, in some cases this in unavoidable if registration volumes are insufficient.
While in many cases courses can be delivered at YOUR location, some limitations apply relative to courses where “Hands-on” (shop time) components are included and essential.
Given our desire of “flexible” scheduling, our calendar is a living entity that is continually growing or changing to meet the needs of our customers. Our website calendars are updated regularly to reflect these changes and customers are kept abreast of improvements through e-mail notifications and/or customer service phone calls. We WILL always strive to meet your scheduling needs.
Curriculum/Courses
The O.W.O.T.C. recognizes that the specific training needs across the province are very diverse and we strive to address as many of these needs as economically possible. Our ability to provide a timely response to the needs of our customers is key to the success and longevity of the O.W.O.T.C.
Courses will continue to be developed or secured to support each of the water disciplines including Water Distribution; Water Distribution & Supply; Water Treatment; Wastewater Treatment; or Wastewater Collection. Whenever possible, courses are designed to include both theoretical and hands-on technical application components in order to maximize the interaction of participants and retention of information. Each participant will be provided with appropriate resource material reflecting the individual subject matter. As equally important to the development of new courses, a continuous review of existing material must occur to ensure currency of information or as needed to satisfy changing regulatory requirements. The O.W.O.T.C. is also prepared to develop and provide customized training programs to satisfy unique training requirements.
To establish levels of competency, each participant will be required to demonstrate that they have learned and understood the subject matter by participating in, or completing, one or more of the following assessments: Final exam; Quiz; Performance Demonstration (hands-on); Presentation; or submission of a written report.
